Module 2 of Oakwood’s CIPD Foundation Level 3 Diploma in Human Resource Practice has as strong a practical focus as the first module.  You’ll be able to complete all the assignments based on your thinking about your own organisation, supported by your reading in the handouts, textbook and the CIPD website.

Key themes for this module are:

  • The importance of recording, analysing and reporting on HR information.
  • How the HR function uses objective setting, Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), performance management, appraisals and rewards to align the work of individuals and functions with that of the wider organisation.
  • How to build organisational productivity, compliance and brand value with strong employee and employment relations policies and processes.

The first unit, 3RAI Recording, Analysing and Using Information, focuses on the vital contribution that high quality HR information and analysis makes to the organisation. You will discuss how your organisation’s HR information is used in planning and management, as well as legal aspects of information collection, storage and sharing.

In 3PRM Supporting Good Practice in Performance and Reward Management, the second unit, you will concentrate on how your HR function promotes and supports good practice in objective setting, the collection of evidence of performance, the performance management process and appraisals, the recording and analysis of KPIs, and in the creation and management of Compensation and Benefit (and other reward) models. You will discuss how motivational theories influence performance and reward management and how they help meet your organisation's business objectives.

Module 2’s third unit, 3MER Supporting Good Practice in Managing Employment Relations, looks at good practice and legal requirements at each stage of the employee life cycle.  You will also discuss how to use formal discipline, capability and grievance procedures as tools to improve productivity, compliance and brand value.

The overarching theme of this module is how HR activities and processes are not just self-supporting bureaucratic time fillers, but are designed to contribute to the overall productivity, profitability and sustainability of the organisation.
